Being a leader is simple; however, it is not easy.  Do you want to strengthen your leadership? Here 5 Don’ts and 5 Do’s to strengthen how you are perceived as a leader:

5 Don’ts

    1. Don’t date an employee.  (Bad optics. No one will believe your decisions about that person’s department will be objective.)
    2. Don’t say, “I.”  Say, “We.”  (Leadership is a team sport.)
    3. Don’t post political commentary.  (50% of your people will not agree with you.)
    4. Don’t break confidentiality.  (Trust is difficult to earn and easy to lose.)
    5. Don’t gossip.  (Leaders need to be “above” gossiping.)

5 Do’s

    1. Do make yourself visible and accessible to all employees.
    2. Do thank people for their work.
    3. Do listen.
    4. Do explain the “why” behind your decisions.
    5. Do smile.

Strengthen your leadership!
