Being a leader is simple; however, it is not easy. Do you want to strengthen your leadership? Here 5 Don’ts and 5 Do’s to strengthen how you are perceived as a leader:
5 Don’ts
-
- Don’t date an employee. (Bad optics. No one will believe your decisions about that person’s department will be objective.)
- Don’t say, “I.” Say, “We.” (Leadership is a team sport.)
- Don’t post political commentary. (50% of your people will not agree with you.)
- Don’t break confidentiality. (Trust is difficult to earn and easy to lose.)
- Don’t gossip. (Leaders need to be “above” gossiping.)
5 Do’s
-
- Do make yourself visible and accessible to all employees.
- Do thank people for their work.
- Do listen.
- Do explain the “why” behind your decisions.
- Do smile.
Strengthen your leadership!
